The meeting was part of the regular national steering committee meeting for the four Ethiopia based Africa Centres of Excellence. The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Prof Afework Kassu, State Minister, Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MoSHE). Dr Eba Mijena, Director General, MoSHE and representative of the regional steering committee of the Africa Centres of Excellence, attended the meeting. 

The centres presented their activities of the previous six months.  The committee focused on strengthening the structure and institutional status of the centres. Prof Tassew Woldehanna attended the meeting and set out his vision for the three centres under Addis Ababa University.
