#Excellence has intrinsic values and #energy that can drive #transformation if we know how to make it a grassroots reality.

On the other hand, it is a concept that may sound 'empty' and 'emotive'. Some may also say this is not the right time. Having led a relatively dynamic centre of excellence in the past five years, I am convinced that excellence can transform #Ethiopia #Africa. I share my thoughts with humility that I can muster because I believed sharing was more important...more of my thoughts below. Thank you.

Excellence is not a talk although it can be reduced into a talk. Excellence is also not about motivating people although communicating excellence involves inviting people to commit to excellence.

Having pursued the idea of excellence and its practical implementation for the past five years, I believe excellence is dynamic and has unique values and characteristics that force people to engage actively with the idea of excellence.

Excellence is not about being #1 or winning trophies. It is rather about pursuing the best that one can be and rejecting mediocrity and the average for the sake of others.

Excellence is a simple and pragmatic concept that may help address the seemingly intractable and wicked national and global problems. In the current, highly competitive world, excellence also helps individuals, institutions, and nations to stand out. I am convinced that if we collectively pursue excellence, it is a matter of time before our nation and continent change for the better in a sustainable way. This is a long shot but not impossible.
